Our FUNDERS

Blue Cross Blue Shield

The Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina Foundation, established as an independent entity by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina in 2000, has played a significant role in the state for over two decades. They’ve had the privilege of collaborating with a wide range of organizations, government entities, and community partnerships throughout North Carolina, channeling more than $200 million into the state through grants, collaborative efforts, and special initiatives. While their mission remains steadfast, their strategies and priorities evolve with time, shaped by insights gained from their organization, grantees, partners, and the evolving landscape.

Their primary focus is on advancing health equity in North Carolina, striving to ensure that everyone, irrespective of race, ethnicity, location, financial circumstances, or education level, has the opportunity to attain optimal health. Recognizing that numerous individuals and communities face significant disparities in health, the foundation acknowledges that various factors, including policies, regulations, institutional practices, and social norms, erect barriers to good health. By investing in solutions that address these challenges while consistently valuing and incorporating the perspectives of their collaborators, organizations, and communities, the foundation aspires to broaden the accessibility of good health opportunities for a larger segment of North Carolina’s population.

West Blvd Neighborhood Coalition

The West Boulevard Neighborhood Coalition is a 501(c)3 nonprofit community-driven organization in the West Boulevard corridor.  West Boulevard is one of Charlotte’s primary western corridors and serves as the commercial center for established neighborhoods to its north and south. The corridor is a community of over 13,000 residents, united by a powerful desire for an inclusive, sustainable, better way of life; where our neighbors are empowered because of where we come from, rather than limited by our beginnings.

Lowe's Home Improvement

Lowe’s, originally stemming from a single small-town hardware store in North Carolina, has evolved into one of the world’s largest home improvement retailers. Throughout its history and continuing today, Lowe’s remains unwavering in its dedication to assisting homeowners, renters, and professionals in enhancing their residences and businesses.

Collectively, Lowe’s and its partners strive to provide the most suitable home improvement products, accompanied by top-tier service and value, to communities and customers worldwide. Their commitment to this mission is evident in every facet of their business and strategy, making Lowe’s an enduring presence in the realm of home improvement. As a testament to their commitment to education, Lowe’s has generously donated Superlative Academy’s Teacher Resource Hub to further support communities in their pursuit of excellence.

Stratford Richardson YMCA

Since 2007, the Stratford Richardson YMCA has been a transformative force in Charlotte’s West Corridor communities. It has established itself as a dynamic hub of activity, offering innovative programs that inspire and empower individuals to reach their full potential. The YMCA actively engages with the community through collaborative partnerships with local non-profits like Superlative Academy, schools, churches, and businesses, fostering a network of support and growth. At the Stratford Richardson YMCA, the focus is on creating positive change and helping everyone become the best version of themselves.
